Deakin Business School has become the latest Australian MBA provider to earn accreditation under the prestigious European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) framework.
A further three local business schools – University of Western Australia, Monash Business School and UQ Business School – have been reaccredited.
Executive Dean of the Deakin Faculty of Business and Law Alfred Deakin Professor Mike Ewing said EQUIS accreditation reflected the culmination of many years of hard work and dedication by faculty, staff, students, alumni and a wide array of stakeholders.
“This accreditation elevates Deakin Business School to international best practice,” Professor Ewing said.
“It is a great complement to the AACSB International accreditation DBS received in 2016, with Deakin now one of just three universities in Victoria – and 150 in the world – to hold both accreditations.”
EQUIS – EFMD Quality Improvement System – is the leading international system of quality assessment, improvement and accreditation of higher education institutions in management and business administration.
EQUIS has established its prestige and recognition worldwide and has accredited the top 1% – 187 schools across 44 countries– since its launch in 1997.
EQUIS accreditation ensures a rigorous quality control, benchmarking schools against international standards in terms of governance, programmes, students, faculty, research, internationalisation, ethics, responsibility and sustainability, as well as engagement with the world of practice.
UWA was first awarded EQUIS accreditation in 2005 and the renewed accreditation means that the UWA Business School will be accredited for 17 consecutive years.
The Dean of the Business School, Professor Peter Robertson, said it was a great outcome of which the School and its supporting teams could be very proud.
“Particular strengths were our research performance, student quality, internationalisation and corporate links. They also commented on the outstanding self-assessment report and facilities,” Professor Robertson said.
“Ultimately accreditation is also a reflection of the hard work everyone puts into research and teaching which drives all the metrics.”
Over the next three years the UWA Business School has a host of planned developments, including the new Master of Business Analytics and the Centre for Business Data Analytics.
